Today we’re excited to announce updated designs to both Zillow’s Agent Profile and Agent Finder. These updates will start at the end of June and roll out completely in July.
Zillow has long had an agent directory, but the way agents interact with buyers and sellers has drastically changed over the last few decades. These updated designs should help agents showcase their resumes in new ways, meaningfully build their personal brands, and stand out from the competition.
Zillow’s updated Agent Finder, now called “Find an Agent,” offers an improved search experience for buyers and sellers, letting them find professionals with the skills that meet their needs. Zillow gives agents the opportunity to share a wealth of information within Agent Profiles, but this information has not always been easy to browse. This latest update allows for more specific and tailored searches to help buyers and sellers connect with the right agent, faster.
Here’s a rundown of what’s new and how you can optimize your Agent Profile.
What’s new?
Based on user feedback, we worked to bring a more modern approach to both Agent Profile and Agent Finder.
Agent Profile now has:
- New profile callouts that distinguish teams from individual agents
- The ability to feature a prominently placed video
- Recent sales highlighted at the top of the agent profile
- New Metrics for 1) Total Sales (all time) 2) Price Range (last 3 years) and 3) Average Price (last 3 years) highlighted at the top of the agent profile
- Team members featured on a team leader profile will now include refreshed information including their star rating and reviews, price range, and sales in the last 12 months
Agent Finder (now called “Find an Agent”) now has:
- Refreshed profile cards that surface important agent data like star rating and total number of reviews
- Search location awareness that automatically infers a user’s preferred zip code or region
- Search location autocomplete to help users fill out details quicker
In terms of timing, the new features will be available for some agents starting June 27. All updates to the Agent Profile and Agent Finder will be complete by the end of July.
How does Agent Finder work?
Agent Finder consults data from agent profiles created by our users, listings information we receive from MLSs and brokers, as well as millions of star ratings and reviews of local real estate professionals submitted by consumers who have worked with them. This information is then displayed based on the consumer’s search preferences. Agent Finder is another step toward consumer empowerment, giving people easy access to information to help them research and find the best agent for their unique situation.
When home buyers or sellers search for an agent in a specific location (neighborhood, ZIP code, or city), the highest rated and most reviewed agents within that location are surfaced to the top of the results. Plus now you’ll see their total sales in the past year, price range for homes sold and if they lead a team of real estate agents. Consumers can further refine their search with various criteria to find an agent who meets their needs.
How do I get the most out of my Zillow Agent Profile?
Since Agent Finder pulls primarily from your Agent Profile, you’ll get the most from it if you have a complete and detailed profile. Here are a few steps you can take to optimize your profile.
Invest in a professional headshot
For your updated Agent Profile, avoid using a team photo. A high-quality photo that shows you individually could help drive more leads. We recommend images that show you smiling with an inviting posture — for example, try not to cross your arms.
Showcase your agent video
Video can build trust with buyers and sellers. Show off your personality in a short clip, and tell potential clients why they’d be in great hands working with you. Simply enter in a YouTube link of your video, save it, and see your video featured front and center!
Highlight your sales history
Consumers will use this criteria to gauge your experience and market expertise. The best way to keep your profile fresh with all past sales is to add every relevant MLS ID to your profile (you can add multiple). Simply click the “Manage MLS Agent ID” button on your agent profile to add it directly or look it up by validating a current listing.
Build your personal brand
Your professional bio is another way to highlight your specialties, expertise, credentials, accomplishments, and memberships. List the most critical information first, since potential clients can only see the first few lines of text without clicking “More” to reveal your full bio.
Update your spoken languages
Identifying your spoken languages can open up new opportunities for connecting with a diverse range of clients. If you’re advertising yourself as a multilingual agent, ensure you accurately represent your fluency for smoother interactions and better understanding of your clients’ needs.
Note that your “Edit Profile” page will continue to show the old version of your profile for now, but buyers and sellers will be able to see the newly designed version. To make sure your profile reflects your mostup-to-date information before these updated designs go live, make changes today!
